Asbestos surveys are becoming common these days as deaths due to exposure are shooting up. Builders are required to submit asbestos reports to prove that they are not dealing with high levels of asbestos as it is a health hazard.
There are two types of asbestos surveys: management and refurbishment and demolition. The surveyor must have sufficient training and qualification to carry out the survey.
The management surveys are conducted to make the residents aware of the likelihood of the presence of asbestos. It is simply a visual inspection, and the asbestos reports reveal the condition of asbestos-containing materials. This survey only requires minimal sampling and minor intrusive work.
Asbestos-containing materials are disturbed during construction, leaving workers at the risk of exposure. The second type of survey, refurbishment and demolition, is conducted when these materials are being disturbed. This survey should be carried out whenever construction work is down the line.

This fully-intrusive survey is a more detailed one, as opposed to the management survey. The concerned building is usually vacated before the extensive samples are taken. The asbestos reports of this survey reveal the type, location, and extent of all asbestos materials.
